WonderCon Anaheim 2020 has been postponed

Ongoing coronavirus concerns has postponed another major event.

Today, it was revealed the 2020 installment of WonderCon Anaheim would be postponed until a later date. Refunds for the event will be issued in the near future. WonderCon Anaheim was slated to take place from April 10 through April 12 inside the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. The folks at Comic-Con International, which run WonderCon Anaheim, are still looking to see if San Diego Comic Con will be postponed.

Information about WonderCon Anaheim’s rescheduled dates will be made available to the public soon.

Dan Slott, Darcie Little Badger added to San Diego Comic-Con 2020

Yesterday, the folks behind San Diego Comic-Con have unveiled six new guests heading to the convention.

Writers Lorena Alvarez Gómez (Nightlights, Hicotea), Darcie Little Badger (Elatsoe, Strangelands) and Dan Slott (Fantastic Four, Iron Man 2020) will hit up the convention alongside artists Matthew Southworth (Stumptown co-creator), Lee Weeks (Batman, Daredevil, Gambit), and Mark Wheatley (Breathtaker, Frankenstein Mobster). They join previously announced guests such as Felicia Day, J. Michael Straczynski, and Ezra Claytan Daniels.

More guests for San Diego Comic-Con 2020 will be revealed next Monday (March 23). The convention will take place from July 23 to July 26 (preview night on July 22) at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, California. More information about the convention can be found here.

Malibu artist Joe Verdi unveils music video for "The Rising"

On Friday, Malibu musician Joe Verdi released their visual for “The Rising.” Shot in Maui, the video was directed and edited by Joe with Vinny Verdi behind the camera. Lyrically, the songs touch upon the harmful ways humanity has destroyed the environment.

“The Rising” stems from Verdi’s new four-song EP Amethyst Eyes, which is out right now on Spotify and Apple Music. The EP, which also includes the tracks “21 Gun Salute” and “Growing,” was released back in September via Axiom Studios. Follow the artist on Twitter and Instagram for any updates.

Long Beach Comic Con 2019 arrives this weekend

Long Beach Comic Con is back this weekend with two days filled with comic book delight for all ages.

The GeekFest Film Festival, which showcases the best in geeky films, will make a stop at the convention. Some of the films being screened include Rise of the Catwoman, Star Wars Dark Legacy, and Portrait of a Superhero. Awards for the best films will also be handed out.

Do you love space? The Space Expo will include various panels about space, including a discussion about the forthcoming Europa Clipper mission.

There’s also the cosplay contest, which will award the best cosplayers at the event.

Some guests slated to appear at Long Beach Comic Con include actress Aliza Pearl (Ripley Improv, Geek & Sundry), comic book writer Barbara Randall Kesel (Superboy, Legends of the Dark Crystal), and Top Cow President/COO Matt Hawkins.

Long Beach Comic Con, which takes place on August 31 and September 1, will arrive at the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, California. Tickets are on sale here. More information on the event can be found here.

J-pop group MADKID announced for Crunchyroll Expo 2019

Rising J-pop group MADKID will appear at this year’s Crunchyroll Expo.

Announced today, the group are part of a slew of guests coming from the anime series The Rising of the Shield Hero. The band performed the two opening themes for the show: “Rise” and “Faith.” MADKID recently released their debut studio album Circus, which includes English versions of “Rise” and “Faith.”

Other guests from the anime include voice actress Sarah Emi Bridcutt, character designer Masahiro Suwa, music composer Kevin Penkin, and show producer Junichiro Tamura.

Tickets for Crunchyroll Expo are on sale right now. The event takes place from August 30 through September 1 inside the San Jose Convention Center in San Jose, California.

Funimation announce schedule for Anime Expo 2019

With over a week until Anime Expo, Funimation unveiled their plans for the convention yesterday.

As expected, the popular anime distributor will have a slew of special events taking place throughout the four day convention. Among these events are the premiere screenings for the Human Lost dub and Hensuki.

If you’re not going to be there in person, Funimation have you covered with a special livestream taking place on Saturday, July 6. Hosting the stream are Emma Fyffe (Collider), Matt Acevedo (Ultimate Fictional Character Podcast), and Cheyenne Ewulu (CheyenneKPOP). During this five hour livestream, these three will talk to various guests about all things anime.
