WagakkiBand to perform theme song for Funimation's Mars Red anime
Japanese rock group WagakkiBand will be lending their musical talents to another anime series.
Revealed today, the group will perform the theme song for Funimation’s forthcoming series Mars Red. The show’s theme song is titled “Seimei no Aria.” The band recently delivered theme songs for Twin Star Exorcists and Samurai Warriors. WagakkiBand’s last studio album was 2020’s Tokyo Singing, which peaked at number five on the Oricon Albums Chart.
In a statement about the new song, vocalist Yuko Suzuhana said:
“As a group that has many anime lovers, we are very happy to have this opportunity to perform the opening theme; and we put a lot of energy into creating this new song. It would be great if WagakkiBand’s one and only sound will enliven the opening and expand the worldview of its anime. I also hope that the new Japanese animation and music will reach you as an enjoyable entertainment to overcome this hard time we have been all in.”
Guitarist Machiya also said:
“I’ve made this song with a strong sense of making the entire work more colorful by beautifully adding flowers to the gorgeous casts and the world view of its story; therefore, not only on the lyrics but also its sound, there are many gimmicks built in at key points such as a hint of accordion sound supporting the whole.”
Produced by Signal.MD, Mars Red follows an army of vampires created by the government to take down another gang of vampires. The series is based on a stage reading play written by Bun-O Fujisawa. The show is slated to premiere this April. You can check out a teaser trailer below.
