The best improv streams to watch this weekend (April 16 - April 18)
While theaters are temporarily closed, improvisers have found a new home streaming on the internet. Through this venture, people from around the world can tune in to see these talented people tell amazing stories. If you’re looking to get lost in a great performance, check out these improv streams going down this weekend (April 16 - April 18).
Friday. April 16
Friday Jam (Impro Theatre) 9 p.m. EST/6 p.m. PST (watch here)
This week's Friday Jam will focus on the legendary improv duo Nichols & May, who influenced comedians such as Jerry Seinfeld and John Mulaney. Performers for the night will be a mixture of people from the Impro Theatre community and members of Asian American improv group Cold Tofu. You can donate to Impro Studio here.
Roman Shakespeare Improvised (Impro Theatre) - 10 p.m. EST/ 7 p.m. PST (watch here)
Impro Theatre's Improvising Plays & Films class will bring Shakespeare to life via Roman Shakespeare Improvised. There will also be Roman Shakespeare Improvised performances on Saturday at 10 p.m. EST/ 7 p.m. PST and Sunday at 5 p.m. EST/2 p.m. PST.
Saturday, April 17
Re-Fun'd: A Nondeductable Improv Show (Improv Bus) - 9 p.m. EST/6 p.m. PST (get tickets here)
Improv Bus will celebrate Tax Day with a special improv show. Improv Bus has been turning heads in the city with performances at The Second City and Small Town Brewery. This show will be free for all to attend. A link to view the performance will be sent before showtime.
Wild Horses (Dynasty Typewriter) - 8 p.m. EST/5 p.m. PST (buy tickets here)
Improv group Wild Horses (Stephanie Allynne, Mary Holland, Lauren Lapkus, and Erin Whitehead) will hold a special improv performance with special guest Laci Mosley (iCarly revival, Scroll Wheel of Time). Sunday, April 18
Fabio and Friends (Magnet Theater) - 6 p.m. EST/9 p.m. PST (watch here)
Fabio didn't inspire people to look fit for romance novel covers. They also inspire improv groups such as Fabio. With Fabio and Friends, the improv group will share the stage with other improvisers for a grand time. While the show is free to watch on Twitch, you can donate to Magnet Theater here.
