Trade Wind release new single "Nine Tails" with accompanying video game
Supergroup Trade Wind have release their new single “Nine Tails” today.
When it comes to the new single, which can be heard below, guitarist/vocalist Jesse Barnett said:
"Lyrically 'Nine Tails' is about ego. When lots of personalities are coming together to work on something creative, everyone has to try their best to set that aside or things can get derailed pretty easily. It’s about the obnoxious obsession an 'artist' can have about being known for what they do or what they have contributed. Is that important? On some level, I suppose. But I think humbleness is important to the process because at this point anyone who creates anything nowadays is an extension of something or someone else. Relax. Collaboration will set you free. Write a song and tell people someone else wrote it. Musically this song is pretty spacey and almost reminds me of something like Beck. It's a sound I'd never really had a chance to work on before and it was really fun to reach into a different toolbox."
Aside from the new track, the band have unveiled an accompanying video game, which can be played here. The game was created by Ryan Thompson, who worked on Volta X. Guitarist Tom Williams said this about the game:
"We thought we'd give our fans a chance to hear a new song while also getting frustrated playing the game, which is truly a new way to take in music. It’s been a lot of fun seeing the leaderboards constantly changing with insane new scores. Top 5 scores by release day win test presses, vinyl, hoodies, shirts, CDs, and more!"
“Nine Tails” stems from Trade Wind’s forthcoming studio album The Day We Got What We Deserved, which will be released on May 21 via Other People Records. Pre-orders can be made here. This is the follow-up to the band’s 2019 studio album Certain Freedoms.
