Read More2020 will see the releases of Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 7 remake and Marvel’s Avengers. Unfortunately, both games will be released later than expected.
Announced today, the Final Fantasy 7 remake has been pushed to April 10. The game was originally slated for a March 3 release. In a statement, producer Yoshinori Kitase said, “We are making this tough decision in order to give ourselves a few extra weeks to apply final polish to the game and to deliver you with the best possible experience.” This places Final Fantasy 7 remake closer to the release of Cyberpunk 2077.
Marvel’s Avengers, which was originally slated for a May 15th release, will be unveiled on September 4. “When we set out to bring you our vision for Marvel’s Avengers, we committed to delivering an original story-driven campaign, engaging co-op, and compelling content for years to come. To that end, we will spend this additional development time focusing on fine tuning and polishing the game to the high standards our fans expect and deserve,” Crystal Dynamics said in a press statement. Marvel’s Avengers was announced at last year’s E3.
After a ton of speculation, the first trailer for Marvel’s Avengers arrived during Square Enix’s E3 press conference.
In the game, the Avengers disband following the death of one of their own. Five years later, however, they have to regroup to take down the biggest threat possible. While it may not feature the cast of the movie lending their voices, fans will recognize some familiar voices. Troy Baker (Hulk), Jeff Schine (Captain America), Travis Willingham (Thor), Laura Bailey (Black Widow), and Nolan North (Iron Man) will lend their voices.
The game, which was originally known as The Avengers Project, was announced back in 2017. Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal are developing this game.
Unlike most games, Marvel’s Avengers won’t feature any loot boxes, and every additional character can be downloaded for free.
Marvel’s Avengers is set to drop on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Stadia, and PC on May 15, 2020. PlayStation 4 owners will get the first dibs on an early beta. This is the first of a multi game partnership between Square Enix and Marvel Entertainment. Pre-orders for the upcoming game are now live.
