Granblue Fantasy: Versus launch party takes over Los Angeles tomorrow

Granblue Fantasy: Versus is finally out on the PlayStation 4 in North America, and Xseed Games will celebrate with a massive launch party in Los Angeles tomorrow (Saturday, March 7).

The highlight of the event will be an exhibition match between the game’s voice actors. Cristina Vee (Charlotta Fenia, Ferry) and Adin Rudd (Beelzebub) will team up to take on Faye Mata (Metera) and Patrick Seitz (Ladiva). Both teams will find themselves being coach by two greats in the FGC. Ricki Ortiz will work with Vee and Rudd while Justin Wong will train Mata and Seitz.

This match will be sandwiched between a 64-person tournament. If you’re looking to compete in the tournament, head here to sign up before 6 p.m. today (March 6). Spectators can sign up here.

Aside from tournaments, there will be casual gameplay, a photo booth, raffles, and food and drinks. If you’re unable to attend, there will be a stream on Xseed Games’ Twitch channel. You can check out the schedule below. All times listed are PST.

Evo 2020 lineup revealed (Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Granblue Fantasy Versus, Marvel vs Capcom 2)

The folks behind Evo unveiled the lineup for this summer’s installment yesterday, and it includes a couple of surprises.

Returning from last year are Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Tekken 7, Dragon Ball FighterZ, Street Fighter 5, Samurai Showdown, Soulcalibur VI, and UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH Exe:Late. Mortal Kombat 11, which made its Evo debut last year, will not be coming back for round two.

Granblue Fantasy Versus, which releases on March 3 in North America, will appear at Evo. The fighting game is based on the 2014 JRPG game Granblue Fantasy.

Evo also revealed the return of Marvel vs Capcom 2 with a special 8-person tournament. This special 20urnament of Champions invitational celebrates the 20th anniversary of the popular fighting game. The last time the game was featured at the fighting game tournament was in 2010.

Evo takes place at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas from July 31 through August 2. Competitors and spectators can register for the event here.
