A synopsis for the show reads:
Paradox Live THE ANIMATION is directed by Naoya Ando and features animation production by PINE JAM. The story of the series follows the contestants in a near-future competition that pits young rap and hip-hop artists against each other for fame and fortune, in a Japan where hip-hop and rap culture became the dominant form of pop culture and expression. The performers in each group bear a piece of "phantometal"—an accessory that reacts with their DNA to create brilliant illusions as they perform to excite the crowd and drive more attention to their respective groups.
