Los Angeles singer-songwriter Jacquie releases new single “What You Calling Me For (WYCMF)”
Los Angeles singer-songwriter Jacquie has dropped their new single “What You Calling Me For (WYCMF)” today.
The single arrives with a music video directed by Nicholas Jandora from Jandora Media. Jacquie said this about the accompanying visual:
“It was really satisfying getting to make the video with some of my closest friends. It definitely helped further express the drama and hopelessness of being in something that isn’t good for you. The couch sucking part of the video was inspired by the series Maid on Netflix, which I related heavily to on my own journey exiting an abusive relationship. Everyone on set showed up and brought the vision to life in a very special way and I am very grateful for having that experience and adding a whole new element to the song.”
This is the artist’s first single with record label Cash App Studios. Jacquie said this about signing with the label:
“After a decade of being signed, being dropped, being broke, being swindled and a whole bunch of other s**t so far - a SoundCloud link of demos randomly fell into the hands of Cash App studios and I’ve never experienced anything like what they’re doing for artists. They’re really out here supporting projects and making it possible to own 100% independently - I’ve felt like the sky was falling since I was 15 but I’ve always held onto hope and it feels like s**ts finally paying off. Super excited and grateful to be releasing my first ep with them.”
“What You Calling Me For (WYCMF)” is out on digital services right now.
