Joy Denalane releases cover of Bill Withers' "Use Me"
Soul singer Joy Denalane pays tribute to late singer Bill Withers, who passed away one year ago today, with their cover of “Use Me.”
Released in 1972, “Use Me” became Withers second-highest charting song ever, peaking at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In a statement, Joy Denalane said:
“Bill Withers once said he saw the clouds from both sides. He was a great storyteller, poet and composer. His songs like “Ain’t No Sunshine”, “Lean On Me” or “Just The Two Of Us” became anthems that we still sing today. In memory of this great songwriter who passed away a year ago, I recorded a new version of his song “Use Me”. Bill Withers will never be forgotten!”
An accompanying music video, which you can see below, was directed by Sékou Neblett. Last September, Denalane unveiled their fifth studio album Let Yourself Be Loved, which marked the first release by a German artist on Motown.
