We look at five acts worth checking out while waiting for headliners Bad Bunny, Blackpink, and Frank Ocean to take the stage. BENEE (Friday, April 14 and Friday, April 21)

New Zealand alternative pop artist BENEE has been a fixture on Spotify playlists since the release of their 2017 debut single "Tough Guy." Their 2019 single "Supalonely (w/Gus Dapperton)” earned the artist global attention thanks to the aid of TikTok. Earlier this year, they unveiled the single "Green Honda," and fans can expect to hear more music from the award-winning singer throughout the year. BENEE will also perform at The Roxy in Los Angeles next Monday (April 17) as part of the Goldenvoice Presents April 2023 concert series.

Bratty (Saturday, April 15 and Saturday, April 22)

Mexican bedroom pop artist Bratty broke onto the scene with their 2019 collaboration with Ed Maverick titled “Ropa De Bazar,” and since then, they’ve been one of the most buzzed-about acts from the region. Their recent Es Mi Fiesta Y Si Quiero Hago Un EP features a slew of guest artists, including Depresión Sonora and Hinds. Bratty is slated to unveil the follow-up to their debut album Delusión soon. The artist will also perform at Los Angeles’ El Rey Theatre next Thursday (April 20) as part of the Goldenvoice Presents April 2023 concert series.

Christine and the Queens (Sunday, April 16 and Sunday, April 23)

French art pop artist Christine and the Queens makes their return to Coachella, and they’re bringing some new music along with them. The artist will perform tunes from their new studio album Redcar les adorables étoiles (prologue), and they’ll preview some material from their forthcoming studio album PARANOÏA, ANGELS, TRUE LOVE, which will be released on June 9 via Because Music. Christine and the Queens will perform at San Francisco’s Regency Ballroom tonight (April 13), San Diego’s Humphreys Concerts By the Bay on Monday (April 17), and Los Angeles’ Fonda Theater next Wednesday (April 19) as part of the Goldenvoice Presents April 2023 concert series.

Kali Uchis (Sunday, April 16 and April 23)

Shortly after graduating high school, Virginia R&B artist Kali Uchis unveiled their debut mixtape Drunken Babble, which earned the artist the title of “Next Big Thing” by a bevy of critics. After a slew of collaborations with acts such as Steve Lacy, Tyler, The Creator, and Juanes, Uchis earned their first Top 40 single with 2021’s “Telepatía.” The artist’s momentum continues to climb with the recent release of their third album Red Moon in Venus (EMI/Geffen), which became their first Top 10 debut.

Yves Tumor (Friday, April 14 and Friday, April 21)

Inspired by the experimental sounds of Throbbing Gristle, rock artist Yves Tumor has become an inspiration to a newer generation of artists looking to bring something new to the table. Since the release of their 2015 debut album When Man Fails You, Tumor has been earning praise from critics and collaborating with artists such as Mykki Blanco, Willow, and Joji. The artist will be supporting their new studio album Praise a Lord Who Chews but Which Does Not Consume; (Or Simply, Hot Between Worlds), which is out on Warp Records. Tumor will also perform at Pomona’s Fox Theater next Wednesday (April 19) as part of the Goldenvoice Presents April 2023 concert series.
