Five exciting reveals from The Game Awards 2020
The Game Awards 2020 has gone, but it brought some exciting reveals to gamers worldwide. Some of them have been talked about for a while, and others came as a complete surprise for many people. We look at five reveals that stood out at the popular gaming ceremony.
Back 4 Blood
Fans finally got a glimpse at Turtle Rock Studios’ Back 4 Blood, which was announced back in 2019. The game is a spiritual successor to the studios’ popular Left 4 Dead franchise. With Valve no longer in the picture, the studio teamed up with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment for this new IP. The game will be released on June 22, 2021 on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Fans can register for the closed PC alpha test, which starts on December 17, here.
Perfect Dark
After months of rumors, gaming studio The Initiative revealed plans to release a new Perfect Dark game for Xbox. The Perfect Dark franchise has been dormant since 2010’s remaster of the original Nintendo 64 game. The last proper Perfect Dark game was 2005’s Perfect Dark Zero. No release date has been set for this forthcoming game. Both Perfect Dark games are featured in 2015’s Rare Replay collection.
Ark II
Many people didn’t expect to see Vin Diesel on their devices during The Game Awards. The actor took part in an exciting trailer for the newly announced Ark II. Aside from doing the trailer, Diesel is starring in the game. Ark II, which is set for a 2022 release, is the follow up to 2017’s Ark: Survival Evolved. In March, Ark: Survival Evolved will gain the DLC expansion Genesis Part 2.
It Takes Two
Following the releases of critically acclaimed Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons and A Way Out, all eyes were on Josef Fares for the first look at It Takes Two. The game follows two torn lovers magically turned into dolls, and the only way they can change back is by working together. Since it’s a co-op game, It Takes Two features the Friend Pass, which allows anyone to join you in online co-op for free. It Takes Two will be released on March 26, 2021 on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
Mass Effect
2020 has been an exciting year for Mass Effect fans. A month after the reveal of Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, fans were treated to a teaser for the forthcoming Mass Effect sequel. The aforementioned Mass Effect: Legendary Edition features remastered versions of the first three Mass Effect games. This collection arrives next spring on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
