Dream Theater keyboardist Jordan Rudess announces new album 'Permission To Fly'
Dream Theater keyboardist Jordan Rudess will unveil their new solo album this September.
Revealed today, Permission To Fly is set for a September 6 release on InsideOutMusic. Joining Rudess on this record are That Joe Payne on vocals, Darby Todd (Devin Townsend) on drums, Steve Dadaian on guitar, and guest guitar solos from Bastian Martinez. A new single from the record titled “The Alchemist” comes with a music video directed by Wayne Joyner, which can be seen here. The record features previously released single “Embers.”
Rudess said this about their forthcoming album:
“The essence of the album is deeply informed by the tumultuous events of 2023-2024, with motifs of peace and anti-violence woven throughout many of the songs.
All the lyrics on the album were written by my daughter, Ariana. While I enjoy writing lyrics myself, my primary focus tends to be on the sonic quality of the words. For this album, I wanted to delve deeper and offer something that resonated on a more profound and cerebral level. Ari did an exceptional job.”
Pre-orders for Permission To Fly can be made here.
