Beautiful Machines release The New Division's remix of "Control"
U.K. darkwave duo Beautiful Machines have unveiled a new take on their latest single “Control” today.
For the remix, the act turned to Los Angeles producer John Glenn Kunkel b.k.a. The New Division. Kunkel said this about working on the remix:
“The first time I heard ‘Control,’ I already knew where I'd be taking it. I began working on the record while I was on the East Coast, finished it on the West Coast, and I think that contrast ended up translating itself onto the final product. The East Coast side of the remix has this cold, abrasiveness to it, while the West Coast side delivers warmth and solar energy that is threaded throughout the song.”
Beautiful Machines said this about the finished product:
“[The New Division’s remix] brought it out of the shadows of darkwave with industrial overtones into something you want to celebrate at a club on a roof in Hong Kong while fireworks dazzle the sky. What John did with it was brilliant, taking it from a triplet or 3/4 or 6/8 feel to a more EDM and Synthwave 4/4 dance feel.”
The remix is available on digital services right now. “Control” stems from Beautiful Machines’ forthcoming album Singularity, which is one of our most anticipated albums of 2022.
