Backrooms Media gets September launch on Steam Early Access
Co-op horror game Backrooms Media will make its way onto Steam Early Access next month.
Announced yesterday, the title, which has landed on 250,000 Steam wishlists, will be released on September 10. A release date trailer can be seen here. Backrooms Media was created by Hungarian student Patrik Nagy. Aside from having graphics powered by Unreal Engine 5, the game features proximity voice chat for online experiences as well as a level editor.
A synopsis for Backrooms Media reads:
The immense appeal of Backrooms Media stems from its connection to the Backrooms, a viral internet creepypasta. The Backrooms are described as endless, unsettling liminal spaces—a maze of eerily familiar yet distorted environments that seem to stretch on forever. These spaces have captivated the imagination of many, and Backrooms Media successfully brings them to life. During highly successful playtest sessions, players have already experienced the game's eerie, hyper-realistic environments, which perfectly capture the unsettling atmosphere that defines the Backrooms phenomenon.
With its multiplayer co-op mode, Backrooms Media invites players to team and to navigate the terrifying labyrinth of endless spaces filled with lurking horrors. The option to group up with friends and face these challenges together has been a major factor in the game’s skyrocketing popularity.
Backrooms Media can be wishlisted on Steam here.
