The Stone Eye release new song "Aleutian Summer"

Philly sludge rock band The Stone Eye have dropped their new single "Aleutian Summer" today.

Much like their previous singles, the music video for this song was directed by vocalist/guitarist Stephen Burdick, who said this about the cut:

“Aleutian Summer was written while we were killing time before a show in D.C. and this song is actually a special moment for the band in my eyes, as it was one of the first times where we truly collaborated on the writing process as a band. I started playing the riff, our guitarist Christian joined in with his part, and from there the song wrote itself in a matter of about an hour. Lyrically, I tried to paint a picture of a scene that could be found out of “The Shining” by Stephen King… a dark, brooding atmosphere that only releases tension when the song does at the choruses. The title of the song being ‘Aleutian Summer’ draws on that same Shining influence; as being trapped on a seemingly desolate place such as the Aleutian Islands for a period of time could hypothetically lead to the stir-crazy conditions comparable to those that fueled Jack Torrance’s rampage in the novel. Given the almost ‘retro’ theme of the song, we decided on paying homage to the eras of rock before us with a lo-fi, green screen approach to the video. Very minimal, performance shots only. We felt as though the simple approach would convey the meaning of the song better than any alternative. Paranoid by Black Sabbath anyone?”

"Aleutian Summer" comes from the band’s forthcoming studio album South of the Sun, which arrives on October 15 via Eclipse Records. Pre-orders for the album can be made here. The Stone Eye will be performing all over the Northeast this fall. Upcoming shows can be seen below.
