Sega will delist two game collections

Two big game collections will be removed from digital stores in December.

Announced yesterday, Sega will delist both SEGA Mega Drive and Genesis Classics and Dreamcast Classics collections and select games on December 6 at 11:59 p.m. PST. A statement from Sega reads:

Greetings, SEGA fans!

We've got some news to share regarding our Classics bundles. As of December 6th, 2024 we'll be saying farewell to new purchases of the SEGA Mega Drive and Genesis Classics & Dreamcast Classics. Both of these great bundles and select individual games will be delisted on Steam December 6th.

No worries if you already own a game or bundle. These gems will still live in your Steam library. You can download and play SEGA Classics games whenever you want, as long as you own them before December 6th.

Released in 2011 on consoles and PC, the Dreamcast Collection originally featured classic Dreamcast games Space Channel 5: Part 2, Sonic Adventure, Sega Bass Fishing, and Crazy Taxi. In 2016, the Steam reissue added Jet Set Radio and NiGHTS into Dreams to the mix with Sonic Adventure 2 joining the bundle in 2020.

The SEGA Mega Drive and Genesis Classics collection originally started as a series of compilations debuting back in 2010. Over 50 Sega classics are in the collection, including Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle, the original Streets of Rage trilogy, and Kid Chameleon.

While the Dreamcast Collection delisting only hits Steam, the SEGA Mega Drive and Genesis Classics collection will be delisted from Steam, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and the PlayStation. Select Dreamcast titles such as Crazy Taxi and NiGHTS into Dreams will be delisted from Xbox alongside Sonic the Fighters, which found a new life thanks to its inclusion in the Yakuza/Like A Dragon series.
