San Francisco musical collective Waters of March release new single “Blue Lilacs”

San Francisco musical collective Waters of March, which includes former Desertshore members Chris Connolly and Phil Carney along with guest vocalist Petra Haden, have unveiled their new single “Blue Lilacs” today.

Connolly said this about the new Motown jazz-tinged alternative rock tune:

“Following the release of instrumental albums, Phil and I decided to write songs that were more lyrical and explored jazz chord structures and harmonies. Petra Haden, who is an incredibly talented jazz singer, agreed to sing on our Waters of March project. "Blue Lilacs" was written on the piano with a Motown vibe based on a guitar riff Phil was improvising on guitar. While still grappling with past memories, the song emphasizes the idea of consciously evoking positive emotions. Moving forward versus memories or past emotional states sabotaging progress is explored in this track. In general, the song's message and vibe are more positive in nature, invoking a positive feeling or energy.”

“Blue Lilacs,” which is out on digital services right now, stems from Waters of March’s forthcoming self-titled debut EP, which is slated to arrive on April 7 via Darkhan. Pre-orders for the release can be made here.
