Porcupine Tree are coming out of hiatus to unveil their first studio album in 13 years next June.

Announced today, the beloved prog rock band will release Closure / Continuation on June 24. To celebrate the announcement, the band dropped the first single from the album titled “Harridan,” which can be heard below. Pre-orders for Closure / Continuation can be made here.

Porcupine Tree said this about the new music:

“Harridan and a few of the other new songs have been in play since shortly after the release of The Incident. They initially lived on a hard drive in a slowly growing computer file marked PT2012, later renamed PT2015, PT2018, and so on.

There were times when we even forgot they were there, and times when they nagged us to finish them to see where they would take us. Listening to the finished pieces, it was clear that this wasn’t like any of our work outside of the band - the combined DNA of the people behind the music meant these tracks were forming what was undeniably, unmistakably, obviously a Porcupine Tree record.

You’ll hear all of that DNA flowing right through Harridan.”

Porcupine Tree have also announced a trek across Europe slated for next fall. Pre-ordering the record will gain early access to tickets. North American tour dates will be released early next year. Their newly announced tour dates can be seen below.

Closure / Continuation is the follow-up to Porcupine Tree’s 2009 studio album The Incident, which earned the band a Grammy nomination for Best Immersive Audio Album.
