Phantom Breaker: Omnia to be released worldwide in 2021

Beloved fighting game Phantom Breaker will get a proper worldwide release with Phantom Breaker: Omnia.

Rocket Panda Games will be handling the port, which will be released next year on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam. Rocket Panda Games will team up with Limited Run Games for special physical releases for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. In a statement, Rocket Panda Games co-founder M. Panda said:

“We are thrilled to bring to the world the definitive version of the Phantom Breaker fighting game, ‘Phantom Breaker: Omnia,’ a game that was nearly lost to the annals of gaming history. As fans of the franchise and video games at large, our mission was not only to port the game to modern consoles but enhance the experience beyond its original scope—a philosophy we plan to extend to every title that Rocket Panda Games releases in the future.”

Phantom Breaker: Omnia will be an updated version of 2013’s Phantom Breaker: Extra. Omnia will feature two new characters, English voice acting, a remixed soundtrack, and a rebalanced fighting system. Players will also be able to play through the story modes of the original Phantom Breaker game and Phantom Breaker: Extra. You can check out the full list of the English voice cast and see the announcement trailer, which features "Contradiction" by Eir Aoi, below.

The original Phantom Breaker game was released in Japan in 2011. A beat 'em up spinoff titled Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds was released worldwide in 2013 via the Xbox Live Arcade before being ported to the PlayStation Vita (2014) and Microsoft Windows (2015). In 2015, an updated version titled Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds Overdrive was released worldwide on the PlayStation 4, and it was ported to the Nintendo Switch in 2017.
