For their 42nd birthday, Pac-Man gained a new theme song.

The new song titled “We Are Pac-Man,” which can be heard below, was performed by Kaho Kidoguchi, who is best known for their work on Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart. An accompanying visual was directed by Yuki Inoue.

Since the release of 1981’s "Pac-Man Fever,” the popular character has been featured in a handful of songs. "Weird Al" Yankovic created a parody of The Beatles’ “Taxman” titled "Pac-Man,” which remained unreleased for 35 years until the release of 2017’s Squeeze Box: The Complete Works of "Weird Al" Yankovic. Bloodhound Gang’s 1999 single “Mope” samples the Pac-Man’s theme. In 2020, Gorillaz and Schoolboy Q released the song “Pac-Man” to celebrate the video game character’s 40th anniversary.

This Friday, Pac-Man Museum+ will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The compilation features 14 Pac-Man titles, including Pac-In-Time, Super Pac-Man, and Pac-Land. On June 2, Fortnite will include a slew of Pac-Man cosmetics.
