An official release date for Overwatch 2 has been announced.

Yesterday, it was revealed that Overwatch 2 will make its way to consoles and PC on October 4. The new title will deliver crossplay and cross-progression with its free-to-play offering. Back in April and May, players got a chance to try out a closed beta of Overwatch 2. Anyone who owns a copy of Overwatch prior to June 23, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. PDT. will be able to gain an Overwatch 2 Founder’s Pack, which includes two epic skins, an exclusive founder’s icon, and a special gift revealed closer to the game’s launch. Players will need to log into Overwatch before October 4 (or log into Overwatch 2 before December 5) in order to claim the pack. A release date reveal trailer can be seen below.

Blizzard also revealed the 34th hero in the Overwatch franchise. Junker Queen, who will be a tank character, is the ruler of Junkertown. More information about Junker Queen and Overwatch 2 in general will be revealed at the Overwatch 2 Reveal Event livestream, which will take place on YouTube and Twitch this Thursday (June 16) at 1 p.m. EST/ 10 a.m. PST.

Mike Ybarra, president of Blizzard Entertainment said this about the new title:

This is the beginning of an always-on and always-evolving era for the franchise, and a recommitment to serving players with frequent and substantial updates planned well into the future to keep Overwatch 2 fresh and fun for many years to come."

Overwatch 2 will be released on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
