NYC singer-songwriter S. Raekwon has unveiled their new song “Single Mom’s Day” today.

The song is the artist’s first piece of music since the release of their 2021 debut album Where I’m At Now. S. Raekwon said this about the new song, which was recorded back in 2020 during the Where I’m At Now sessions:

"This is the most honest song I've ever written. It’s a song about my mom. It’s about other things, too. Like my dad and my grandparents. My third grade classmate, Paul, and the teacher we shared. It's a song about me: “‘cause being a black boy is hard, and it's made even harder without a dad to show you love.

But mostly, it's about my mom, who, in spite of everything going on, got back on her feet time and again. Who was also my father growing up. Who was more than enough."

An accompanying lyric video for the song, which can be seen below, was directed by their aunt Jenny Conte, who said this about working on the visual:

"I was thrilled when my nephew Steven brought up working together on a lyric video for his new song. The song hit hard because I remember almost all of those moments. We live farther apart, but from when he was born I would visit at the holidays and come down for his birthday in the summer, bringing my camera and taking a million photos. The images used in the video are photos of Steven and his mom, places they lived, his third grade classroom. I'm so proud of the man and the musician he has become, and it's particularly poignant to reflect on where he comes from, and the love he shares with his mom and with his family."
