Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition comes to the Nintendo Switch this July
Nintendo is bringing some nostalgia to Nintendo Switch owners this summer.
Announced yesterday, the Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition will arrive on the console on July 18. The game ($29.99) will feature 150 speedrun challenges through 13 beloved NES games. Nintendo Switch Online members can enter their speedrun in World Championships Mode, which will showcase the best in the world. A deluxe set of this game ($59.99) will include a physical version of the game, a set of 5 collectible pins, 13 art cards commemorating each of the featured NES classics, and a replica of the fabled gold-colored NES Game Pak (for display only, stand included). Pre-orders can be made here.
The Nintendo World Championships originally took place in 1990 with stops in 29 cities in the United States. This championship delivered the Nintendo World Championships 1990 Game Pak, which is one of the rarest NES cartridges of all time. The championships would return in 2015 and 2017.
