Natalie Merchant releases new single “Tower of Babel”

Alternative rock artist Natalie Merchant delivered their new single “Tower of Babel” yesterday.

An accompanying music video, which can be seen below, was directed and produced by Matthew Shattuck (Foo Fighters, Earthgang). Merchant said this about the new song, which features trombone player Steve Davis:

“As much as I had wanted to not let events in the world intrude. I couldn’t disregard the prevailing atmosphere of fear and confusion that we have been living in as a result of the pandemic, climate crisis, economic instability, insane politics, violent insurrection and the shocking fallout from the conservative-stacked reactionary Supreme Court.”

“Tower of Babel” comes from Merchant’s forthcoming studio album Keep Your Courage, which will be released on April 14 via Nonesuch Records. Pre-orders for the album can be made here. Keep Your Courage follows Merchant’s 2014 self-titled album.

Merchant will be touring across the United States and Europe in the following months with a handful of sold-out dates in cities such as Poughkeepsie, Charlottesville, and Atlanta. Tour dates can be seen below. Tickets are on sale to the general public here.
