Musical performances and panels take over Pacific Media Expo 2022 this weekend in Los Angeles

Pacific Media Expo returns this weekend, and it’s bringing a slew of great music events along with it.

For live performances, the convention will deliver a slew of fantastic live acts. J-rock band Kazha will deliver two performances at the Main Stage inside Imperial Ballroom South on Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. Prior to Kazha’s set on Saturday, the Main Stage will hold two more exciting live performances. At 5 p.m., Bay Area idol singer/dancer Tiffany Fujii will take the stage for an hour-long set. EVMB The Beatbox Panda will deliver exhilarating beatbox covers of popular songs at 8:30 p.m.

For those looking for something calm, there’s the J-music with piano & voice event, which takes place inside Santa Monica (Live Programming 2) at 2 p.m. on Saturday. For this event, attendees will be greeted to a half hour of piano covers of beloved anime tunes and J-pop classics.

If dancing is more your thing, So-Cal based dance group SystemLIVE will deliver performances of songs from Idolm@ster, vocaloid, and more at the Main Stage on Friday at 1 p.m. Mews Dance will also be on hand for some covers of K-pop, J-pop, and vocaloid tunes inside the Main Stage at 4:30 p.m.

When it comes to panels about music, there’s a handful taking place at Pacific Media Expo. On Friday, A-to-J Connections will discuss the marvelous era of ‘80s Japanese pop music with their More than City Pop: A Guide to Japanese Pop In the 80s, which takes place at Hollywood (Live Programming 1) at 4 p.m.

On Saturday, A-to-J Connections will dive into the cruel side of the idol world with their Dark Side of J-Pop Idols: An 18+ Panel, which takes place at Hollywood (Live Programming 1) at 9 p.m. On Sunday, A-To-J Connections will discuss Japanese metal in the ‘80s with their Thunder In The East: Japanese Metal In The 80s, which takes place at Hollywood (Live Programming 1) at 4 p.m. That same day, Final Fantasy fans will be able to test their music knowledge with the Final Fantasy Music Quiz Show, which takes place at Santa Monica (Live Programming 2) at 1 p.m.

For those looking to dance the night away, Club Awakening is the perfect spot. Running from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. at the Main Stage on Friday and Saturday, the event will feature DJ sets from Garage Life, DJ Nickjustice, DJ Tw33k, and DJ Xonix.
