Michael Kiwanuka releases new song "Beautiful Life"
Michael Kiwanuka released their new song "Beautiful Life" yesterday.
The cut is the title music for Netflix’s new documentary Convergence: Courage In A Crisis. The track was produced by St Francis Hotel, who previously worked with Arcade Fire’s Regine Chassagne and Art School Girlfriend.
Kiwanuka said this about the new song:
“In this song I wanted to focus on the feeling that there’s a real strength in the human spirit when you try to look for beauty even in difficult situations. Of course, in some situations that becomes more and more difficult. But I just wanted to ponder on that and wonder what life would be like if I lived it like that.
Ultimately whatever people feel from hearing the song is ok with me. But what I was trying to emit through the music was a feeling of defiance. A feeling of strength through adversity.”
Next year, Kiwanuka will be touring across the U.K. in May with festival appearances in the region that summer. The artist is currently working on the follow-up to their 2019 studio album Kiwanuka, which was nominated for Best Rock Album at the Grammys.
“Beautiful Life” is on digital services right now.
