Virginia rapper McKinley Dixon has released their new single "Chain Sooo Heavy" today.

The track has been included in Dixon’s live set in the past few years, and it was featured in Dixon’s Audiotree session back in 2018. When it comes to the new song, Dixon said:

"Thematically 'Chain Sooo Heavy' is my view on the commodification of the black experience by an outside audience. The way that trauma can be made palatable and marketable without consent and how because of capitalism, it’s hard to escape the consolidating parts of you for an audience. It’s a self reflection on how I’m susceptible to that."

"Chain Sooo Heavy" is the opening track for Dixon’s forthcoming studio album For My Mama And Anyone Who Look Like Her, which can be pre-ordered here. The album will be released on May 7 via Spacebomb Records. The 11-track album includes the previously released songs “make a poet Black and "Swangin'."
