Brooklyn electronic artist M Wagner has delivered their new single “We Could Stay” today.

The track arrives with a music video created by PilMawilla, which can be seen below. Wagner said this about the new release:

“"We Could Stay" feels like a contemplative techno track for soundtracking existential questions. The title and samples containing vocals are from "Terrapin," a song from the second album my wife and I made as Silver Liz. The lyrics in "Terrapin" address the difficulty of leaving a place, but it is hard not to think about the title "We Could Stay" in the context of the climate crisis as our window of time for staying feels increasingly limited. Nonetheless, the title is meant for the listener to project their own meaning onto it.

I spent more time on this track than any of the other ones from the album. I wanted to accumulate enough textures and percussive layers to the point that I hear something new or get lost while listening back to it. The feeling of forgetting how I made something is kind of a litmus test in knowing when a track is done. I want to confuse myself to keep it interesting.”

“We Could Stay” is the title track of M Wagner’s forthcoming studio album, which is set for a May 17 release via Extremely Pure. Pre-orders for the 10-track album can be made here.
