Los Angeles progressive thrash metal band Sifting have unveiled their new single "Silent Acquiescence.”

The new song was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Jamie King, who is best known for their work with The Contortionist and Between The Buried and Me. An accompanying music video was directed by Sifting vocalist Eduardo Osuna Gil. The vocalist, who is a two-time Emmy winner, said this about the new song and visual:

“This is a song that we’ve been working on since before Covid even was a thing. You could say this song evolved with us throughout the pandemic, because the way it started was different from the finished product.

With the music video for this song, we wanted to do something different, by taking on more serious topics that are personal to the four of us and poke a bit more fun at each other as well as the events that lead to it. We wore red objects to represent the blood (our own blood through centuries), that has been spilled for the better cause. Many of us in the world are given the "Choice" and "rights" to speak our mind and vote but that isn't really what’s happening. It’s a facade, a masquerade, a game in which even if you think you are in control you are not. We have corrupt millionaires making those choices for us hence our voice is silenced. We are here to be controversial, to make a stand. It's not about left or right, blue or red but about humanism and our rights. Rights to be human and to be alive. We each come from places where we have seen empires fall, corrupt militaries, police brutality and the rich abuse the poor. We are part of the poor and it's all being masqueraded with facades of TikTok trends, extremist newscasts, lack of education, and the government wanting to keep us ignorant.”

Guitarist Mo La Mastro also said:

“It was super chill working with Eduardo as the video director, and the fact that he’s a member of the band probably added to that!. He was super-efficient and very concise about how each scene ought to be filmed, which made the whole process go super smoothly.”

"Silent Acquiescence" is out on digital services right now.
