L.A. Comic Con is normally the final convention of the year for many people in Los Angeles, and over the weekend, thousands of folks packed the Los Angeles Convention Center for another three days of pop culture goodness.
When folks weren't browsing the show floor and artist alley for some new purchases, they made their way to the Main Stage to see some of their favorite stars discuss their careers, including Power Rangers star Amy Jo Johnson and actress/musician Kate Micucci. The Main Stage was also the spot for the Teletubbies Dance Party, which had Teletubbies fans both young and old dancing along with the popular characters.
Many unique panels were also held during the three-day convention, including Rock and Roll In Comics. This panel, which featured John Hageman (publisher/creator), Mel Smith (writer/ creator), Ruben Najera (writer), El Kartun (artist), and Spike Steffenhagen (writer), dove into the history of 10 Ton Press' Rock & Roll Biographies. While discussing previous entries involving Slayer and Iron Maiden, they spoke a bit about their upcoming comic book about Linkin Park and the legacy of late vocalist Chester Bennington. Najera and El Kartun, who worked on the upcoming comic book, didn’t want to upset fans of the band, so they carefully pieced together the final product that could lure in both diehard fans and casual listeners. With Bennington having a physical transformation during their time with the band, El Kartun had to make some artwork changes to match the time period. More information about the book will be unveiled soon.
