Into the Mother Lands TTRPG Kickstarter is now live

One of the most unique TTRPGs on Twitch will soon become one of the most unique games people can play at home.

The Kickstarter for the forthcoming Into The Mother Lands TTRPG is live today, and fans will be able to pre-order a copy of the Into The Mother Lands sourcebook, which will arrive physically and digitally in September 2022.

Debuting last fall, Into the Mother Lands, which is created by I Need Diverse Games founder Tanya DePass, earned praise for its diverse cast and engaging storyline. DePass said this about creating the popular Twitch series:

“RPGs have always meant retooling the narrative for me to exist, but this game lets me exist without forcing me to flip the script.”

Into the Mother Lands TTRPG lead developer B. Dave Walters, who is known for their work on Black Dice Society and LA By Night, said this about the series:

"I love D&D, but there’s more to life (and gaming) than Eurocentric power structures and fantasy settings. I've never seen a game where Black excellence was a guiding design principle. We wanted to create a place where People of Color could take pride in ourselves; our skin, our art, our cultures and our joy.”

Into The Mother Lands cast member Eugenio “DMJazzyHands” Vargas said this about the forthcoming TTRPG:

“Over the last year, we’ve told awesome stories in a POC-developed world where slavery and colonialism aren’t baggage for our characters. We’ve had so much fun telling these stories, but I know people at home also have stories to tell, and I can’t wait to hear all about them.”

Aside from Walters and Vargas, the developmental team for the TTRPG will include Gabe Hicks (Roll20) and Jasmine Bhullar b.k.a. ThatBronzeGirl.

The second season of Into the Mother Lands will begin tomorrow (May 19) on DePass’ Twitch channel at 7 p.m. EST/4 p.m. PST. The first season is available to watch on YouTube. Into the Mother Lands features DePass, Vargas, DeejayKnight, Michael Sinclair II, Aabria Iyengar, and Krystina Arielle.
