Five great events to catch during Animé Los Angeles 18 this weekend

Animé Los Angeles 18 will bring a slew of anime goodness to the Long Beach Convention Center this weekend (January 5 through January 8). Aside from the grand list of special guests, which includes content creator Kaho Shibuya, comedian Lemar “The Con Guy” Harris, and local rock band TemperMental, there’s a slew of events lined up for just about everyone. Animé Los Angeles Formal Ball
Thursday, January 5
7 p.m. - 11 p.m.
Live Programming 4 (Seaside Ballroom)

Come dressed in your sharpest attire for the Animé Los Angeles Formal Ball. For this event, a recommended dress code is required to enter. You can dance the night away by yourself, but there's an Ask Me To Dance area available for those looking for a partner on the dancefloor. Aside from dancing, a cosplay contest will take place during the event.

Cosplay Wrestling Federation: Annihilation
Friday, January 6
11:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.
Live Programming 3 (Room 103B/C)

Cosplay Wrestling Federation makes its return to Animé Los Angeles for a two-day event filled with some great action. While there's no physical confrontation, there will be plenty of promos being cut in order to make it to the top. Day two of Annihilation will take place on Saturday (January 7) at Live Programming 4 (Seaside Ballroom) from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Animé Los Angeles Fashion Show
Friday, January 6
4:30 p.m. - 6 p.m.
Main Events (Grand Ballroom)

Animé Los Angeles will take over the Grand Ballroom for its annual fashion show. Hosted by Andrew Alandy, a slew of companies such as Ronova, M.RAGE, and Miss Alphabet will showcase their latest attire. The fashion show will also include a live musical performance from California-based rock act BLACKROS3.

Advice For Aspiring Voice Actors
Saturday, January 7
10 a.m. - 11 a.m.
Live Programming 3 (Room 103B/C)

Many people aspire to become voice actors after watching their favorite anime or playing their favorite video game. Tom Fahn (Digimon, Kyo Kara Maoh!) and Dorothy Fahn (Digimon, Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir) will discuss how to make it in the voice acting industry. Audience members will be allowed to participate in a voice acting exercise during the panel.

Learning Japanese with Anime and Anime Song presented by Fuji School
Sunday, January 8
1 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Workshops (Room 202C)

Many anime fans learn Japanese so they can enjoy their favorite shows without subtitles. Based in Los Angeles, Fuji School offers courses in Japanese. For this special workshop, attendees will be able to learn Japanese via a popular anime song. Aside from learning Japanese, attendees can walk away with some nifty giveaways.
