Swedish drone/experimental act Carlos Ibarra b.k.a. Maulén has unveiled their new song “Rostro” today.

The track, which can be heard below, is the first taste of Maulén’s forthcoming album El Miedo De Amar Pero Igual Lo Hago (which means “the fear of falling in love but I still do it” in English). The record will be released as a two-part EP; the first half of the EP is slated to arrive via Icons Creating Evil Art on September 29. The second half will arrive early next year. El Miedo De Amar Pero Igual Lo Hago was recorded in an abandoned subterranean water cistern in Gothenburg, Sweden while lyrics were written when the artist was stuck at India’s Thar Desert during the start of COVID lockdown.

Ibarra said this about the song:

"This was the first song I wrote for this album back in 2019. The lyrics are about a connection I got with someone and in just a few days she was gone from my life forever. The song is a slow and beautiful monolith in Persian featuring Behzad Barazandeh on vocals. With an epic and melancholic mood the song takes you on an journey inwards towards your inner darkness."

“Rostro” is available on digital services right now.
