If anyone had plans to attend Crunchyroll Expo this year, they’re going to be disappointed.

Announced today, Crunchyroll decided to skip plans for Crunchyroll Expo this year in order to spend time promoting at other conventions. A statement from Crunchyroll reads:

“Hey Crunchyroll fans! Thank you for your support of Crunchyroll Expo. This year we decided to hit pause on CRX to focus on attending a growing roster of expos and festivals around the world.

We also hope you can join us and watch the 7th annual Crunchyroll Anime Awards on March 4th live-streamed from Japan for the very first time. We will be celebrating many of the people behind your favorite shows, films and songs.”

Last year saw the debut of Crunchyroll Expo Australia, which took place at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre in Melbourne. Crunchyroll Expo returned to an in-person convention last summer, which also included online events. Check out our coverage from the popular anime convention here.
