Congregation of Drones release interactive music video for "Gesture of Devotion" on Twitch
Electro-acoustic act Congregation of Drones, which features Grammy-winning violinist Pauline Kim Harris and electronic artist Jesse Stiles, have dropped an interactive music video for their single "Gesture of Devotion" on Twitch today.
The interactive visual, which can be viewed here, will be part of an ongoing stream that allows the chat to remix the visual through text commands shown on screen. The video was co-directed by Scott Andrew and Stiles with some choreography done by Jesse Factor.
Stiles said this about the song:
“All the titles from this album are taken from the front page of the New York Times on the dates in which the music was recorded. Gesture of Devotion was recorded on February 27, 2020 - just thirteen days before the WHO declared COVID-19 a global pandemic. The phrase “gesture of devotion” referred to women in China shaving their heads as they buried their husbands in the first wave of deaths from the pandemic. In hindsight, the recordings we made on this day seem to foreshadow the months of chaos, fear, and stasis that would soon follow.”
"Gesture of Devotion" comes from Congregation of Drones’ debut album Twenty Twenty, which will arrive on July 1 via Every Possible Recording. Pre-orders for the four-song release can be made here.
