Attack on Titan: The Musical comes to NYC this fall

After acclaimed performances in Japan, Attack on Titan: The Musical will head to the United States this fall.

Announced today, the musical will make its way to NYC’s New York City Center from October 11 through October 13. The musical will be performed in Japanese with English subtitles. An announcement trailer featuring footage from performances in Japan can be seen below.

A synopsis for the musical reads:

Attack on Titan: The Musical is based on one of the best-selling manga series of all time (140 million copies sold worldwide). This adaptation of the Japanese comic/graphic novel by Hajime Isayama combines traditional musical theater techniques with state-of-the-art technology and features a cast of 35 actors.

This production will be performed in Japanese with supertitles in English. Directed by Go Ueki, ATTACK on TITAN: The Musical premiered in Osaka and Tokyo to great success in January 2023. This City Center engagement marks not only the American and New York premiere, but also the first production outside Japan.

A century ago, the grotesque giants known as Titans appeared and consumed all but the last remnants of humanity. The survivors took refuge behind giant walls. Today, the threat of the Titans is a distant memory, and a boy named Eren Yeager yearns to explore the world beyond his current circumstances. What began as a childish dream, though, will become an all-too-real nightmare when the Titans return and humanity is once again on the brink of extinction.

Pre-sale tickets for this event are live right now here, and they’ll run until next Monday (June 3) at 9 a.m. EST with the code CRUNCHYROLLNY24. Remaining tickets will go on sale next Monday at noon EST.
