ATARASHII GAKKO!, LiSA, ClariS, and more to perform at Songs of Tokyo Festival 2022

Announced today, a slew of J-pop acts will join forces for the 2022 installment of Songs of Tokyo Festival.

The lineup for this year’s event, which will be recorded on October 1 inside NHK Hall, will feature ATARASHII GAKKO!, ClariS, Higuchi Ai, Kageyama Hironobu, Kitadani Hiroshi, Liella!, LiSA, macaroni empitsu, Miyata Toshiya (Kis-My-Ft2), Mizuki Nana, Naniwa Danshi, Ono Masatoshi, and QUEENDOM.

The festival will air in two parts on NHK WORLD-JAPAN’s website and app. Part one will air on November 5 while part two will air on November 12. Both parts will be available on-demand for free for three months after their initial airing. An edited version will make its way to BS4K and NHK General TV in the future.

Songs of Tokyo Festival 2022 highlights

  • Miyata Toshiya (Kis-My-Ft2) will collaborate on "Chiki Chiki Ban Ban" by QUEENDOM, featured on the anime series Ya Boy Kongming!

  • Anisong legends Kageyama Hironobu, Kitadani Hiroshi, and Ono Masatoshi perform the theme songs for iconic anime series Dragon Ball Z, ONE PIECE, and HUNTERxHUNTER.

  • LiSA performs "Akeboshi," the opening theme of the hit anime show Demon Slayer: Mugen Train Arc and "Yuke" from the animated feature film Sword Art Online -Progressive- Aria of a Starless Night.

  • Higuchi Ai performs "Akuma no Ko," the ending theme song Attack on Titan the Final Season Part 2, which ranked top place in streaming services around the world.

  • Mizuki Nana sings "Get up! Shout!", the opening theme for the second season of the popular anime series SHAMAN KING, which she also voice acted in.

  • Four new members join the original five of Liella! to perform the opening theme song for the anime series Love Live! Superstar!! Season 2, "WE WILL!!"

  • ClariS, two popular permanent fixtures in the anisong scene, sings "ALIVE," the opening theme for the popular anime series Licorice Recoil and "Connect," the opening theme for the anime series Puella Magi Madoka Magica.

  • Naniwa Danshi, unstoppable since their debut last year, give an adorable and joyful performance in their first appearance at SONGS OF TOKYO.

  • Just after their US show in August, ATARASHII GAKKO! will be delivering a special performance.

  • Gen Z favorite macaroni-empitsu performs "Nanndemonaiyo," a track that made a splash on social media last year
