Wave-Gotik-Treffen will make its grand return this week, and fans of industrial, goth, EBM, and synthpop can’t wait to check out some of their favorite acts live. The festival, which takes place from June 3 through June 6, will find nearly 200 artists performing at various venues across the city. These are 10 music acts worth catching at the beloved festival. More information on the music festival can be found here.

Aesthetic Perfection

Industrial pop artist Aesthetic Perfection has been making a name for themselves in the scene with performances at Dark Side of the Con, Mera Luna Festival, and Infest Festival. Anyone who watched Netflix's Baby series heard the artist's contribution to its soundtrack with Mr.Kitty's remix of "LAX." On June 3, the artist will unveil MMXXI, which is a compilation of songs released monthly in 2021.

Alcest

French post-black metal band Alcest helped pioneer the blackgaze genre, which has seen popularity thanks to acts such as Deafheaven and Zeal & Ardor. Alcest's last studio album was 2019's Spiritual Instinct, which peaked at number six on the Heatseekers Albums chart. Alcest's festival appearance arrives in the early start of their European summer tour.

Deathsomnia

Featuring members of Bedless Bones and Telepathy, U.K. darkwave act Deathsomnia were formed in the midst of lockdown to put their creative energy to use. The end result is their 2021 debut album You Will Never Find Peace, which includes contributions from Nothing's Kyle Kimball.

Warfield (She Wants Revenge)

Justin Warfield from She Wants Revenge will deliver a solo set featuring cuts from their new solo album Forever Never Changes. Earlier this month, it was announced that She Wants Revenge will return with touring and recording new music. The act disbanded back in 2020.

Korine

Since the release of their 2017 debut EP Corsage, Philadelphia synthpop duo Korine have been gaining traction in the Northeast performing at venues such as Saint Vitus and QXT's. Last year, the act graced the Cold Waves Festival performing alongside Stabbing Westward and accumulated one million Spotify streams. Korine will be touring in Europe and the United States this summer.

Riki

Los Angeles synthpop act Riki will conclude their current European tour with SRSQ at Wave-Gotik-Treffen, and for the artist, this will be their first time performing at the beloved festival. Last year, Riki released their sophomore studio album Gold, which was co-produced by the artist and Joshua Eustis of Telefon Tel Aviv.

Lacrimosa

Formed in 1990, German gothic rock band Lacrimosa has seen their tunes finding major audiences outside their home country. Due to their massive fanbase in Mexico, the band perform in the country for the first time ever in 2004; a live album from their 2013 performances titled Live In Mexico City was released in 2014. Lacrimosa's last studio album was 2021's Leidenschaft.

iVardensphere

Canadian industrial act iVardensphere will bring a special performance with their Singularity set, which finds the act delivering an improvised session on stage. In February, they unveiled their new studio album Ragemaker, which features appearances from The Rain Within, Seeming, Jesse Thom, Brien Hindman, and Brittany Bindrim.

Kite

Swedish synthpop act Kite will make their return to Wave-Gotik-Treffen following their 2017 appearance. Kite recently unveiled their new singles "Panic Music" and "Bocelli." This fall, Kite will tour the United States with appearances at the Chicago and Los Angeles installments of Cold Waves Festival.
